DNAdigest HackDay 28th Feb
February 28, 2015 @ 9:30 am - 5:00 pm
How can we increase reuse of existing public genomic datasets?
DNAdigest is very happy to announce that we are holding our next Hack Day this month and we are inviting you to a day of brainstorming, ideation and hacking for the benefit of genetics research.
The day is 28th of February, so make sure to have it free.
The event will be held at the Future Business Centre, Cambridge.
Detailed agenda is already set. Check it out here.
We are happy to welcome geneticists, bioinformatics, software developers and anyone with an interest in public genomic datasets. A broad perspective from participants will allow for innovative ideas and interesting discussions.
A basic introduction to DNAdigest and our team will be given in the morning and group workshops will follow in the afternoon.
The problems/topics we aim to address and solve are:
- How can you make a data recommendation service that (based on data that are co-cited in published papers) can recommend a dataset that you might find interesting given a dataset that you have used in the past?
- How can you make a data recommendation service that (based on metadata/descriptions of datasets) can recommend a dataset that you might find interesting given a dataset that you have used in the past?
- How do you make an automated alert system that lets you know when new datasets in a repository (e.g. GEO) are available that match a given (group of) keywords?
Join the DNAdigest Hack Day to make solutions happen! Register your interest on our Eventbrite page and let us know you are coming!
You can also take a look at the summaries our previous HackDays (April and August) and the very successful Symposium held in November that brought together enthusiastic and interested people in the topic of Open Science in human genomic research.
There are also Sponsorship opportunities available, so get in touch with us at email@example.com if interested.
We are looking forward to hack this day together!
Many thank’s to our sponsors for making this event possible!
