GA4GH invites the community to contribute to their Ethics Review

If you have experience with navigating ethics reviews for international research projects, Global Alliance for Genomics and Health (GA4GH) invites you to answer this questionnaire, which consists of three questions.

Here is the message from GA4GH:

Ethics Review Recognition is about fostering recognition of extra-jurisdictional ethics reviews, streamlining the process of reviewing protocols to avoid unnecessary duplication and contradiction, and resolving differences in approaches that stand in the way of research that committees broadly agree should proceed. Researchers, research ethics committee (REC) members, and institutional review board (IRB) members engaged in data-intensive, multi-centre, multi-jurisdiction projects often encounter practical difficulties in this space. The new GA4GH Ethics Review Recognition (ERR) Policy seeks to improve communication and coordination between RECs/IRBs.

Building on the ERR Policy, we would now like to develop Practical Guidance that is grounded in the experience of researchers, REC/IRB members, and other stakeholders. As a first step, we would like to hear from you — the GA4GH community — about your experiences with navigating ethics reviews for international research projects. We invite you to tell us about your positive and negative experiences of presenting proposals for data-intensive research to RECs/IRBs.

There are no right or wrong answers; we simply want to know your views. Completion of the questionnaire should take only about 15-20 minutes.

All individually and institutionally identifying information will be kept confidential by the questionnaire facilitators. All results will be anonymised.

Many thanks for your participation in helping us build Practical Guidance for Ethics Review Recognition!
